Sports Gambling Laws and Legislation

2018: After the overturning of the PASPA, New Jersey was naturally the first cab off the ranks to get started with changing the States gambling laws regarding sports betting. Gov. Phil Murphy initiated and approved the sports betting bill that exists as at today.

The first sportsbook to open (by a mere 30 minutes) and to take bets was William Hill, with who else, but Gov. Murphy one of the first to place a bet. Borgata from Atlantic City opened 30 minutes later and began accepting bets as well. In the ensuring weeks other New Jersey sportsbooks began to open and accept sport bets.

New Jersey, is the second largest State to in terms of sports betting revenue, only behind Nevada.
